If the original catalytic converter is on the truck it could be almost stopped up causing the problem.

This.

I was going to say the same thing. Really no way to 'quietly' test it. You could pull the O2 out and go drive it and see if it still happens, but that tends to be loud and depending on where you live, someone might get cranky.

I second the cat being clogged. These trucks are getting old with a lot of miles so they're bound to start wearing out. My dad's 4.3L S10 barely made it over a mountain by Somerset, PA in second gear while my white Dak felt like it got a 100HP jump after I had its plugged cat replaced.

Ya sorry forgot to mention that I ripped the cat out a while ago when I was having timing issue problems, and being loud in Alberta is a norm, everyone here are used to big diesel rig rockets on the highway puffing black smoke everywhere. I am heading to auto part store then that muffler shop to see if they can't put it in, I qam heading out wednesday to calgary where all my tools and a place I can actually work, I am doing this on a gravel driveway with barely a cardboard box to lay under. Though I highly doubt the truck o2 sensor is the problem but it is worth the investment to replace. Could it potentially be a vacuum leak in one of the lines that could be causing it.

So i went through the truck today. Replaced the cap and rotor found out the new ones i that i already replaced before were pooched. though did not fixed my problem. Ran the vacuum gauge and found that it is running normal. also O2 is doing good. I am out on ideas and need help. Seems to not want to run right at higher rpm. and runs rich. any thoughts

Have you looked at replacing the temp sensor? Not sure what engine you have but my 5.2 has 2 coolant sensors one has one wire and its for the pcm and the other has 2 wires and is for the gauge. The one wire sensor for the pcm controls the A/F ratio until the engine is warm. Also make sure the IAC valve is working properly. May want to check compression and fuel pressure to.
