ok, how much would it cost to get a whole new wiring system for the truck, well at least under the hood, i know that if i get one from the junkyard i run the risk of bad wiring or splices so is there a place i can buy a brand new one, that way i know it wouldnt be the wiring.

idk just throwing ideas out there

There are no NEW options for an entire wiring harness. There might be a few on a back shelf at some dealership parts departments. Try a few local ones in your area.

well ive had a few people workin on this with me and we have come up with some more ideas

it is common for ballast resistors in dodge vehicle to go bad:
idk if my dakota has one or where it would be located

the ignition switch may be bad:
have a friends dad that parted out a dakota and has the whole steering column with tilt and cruise control and i dont have tilt so he is gonna give that to me since i am a big guy the steering wheel is just about on my lap, plus he has a chrome 3 spoke aftermarket steering wheel he is gonna give me too

might not be for a couple days till i get that but in the mean time could i "hot wire" the truck to see if it will start or will that do more harm than good, i dont really have much money left so i dont wanna have to get and replace parts if i dont have to, granted the ignition switch is free

and i am gonna see about tracing out the ignition switch wiring
