94 dakota lost 2nd and 3rd gear

Default 94 dakota lost 2nd and 3rd gear

i was driving my truck and when i went to drive away the truck will not automatically or manually shift from 1st to second or second to third . the level is were it belongs and nice new color and no burnt smell. any ideas would be great. thanksin advance for asisstance

does it sound like there is fluid sloshing around when you try to drive?

By sloshing do you mean as if the filter fell off and is sitting in pan?

i would check the linkage. my 90 a piece fell off, was down under on drivers side. might be some issue there, maybe you are just putting it in first no matter where you have the shifter arm due to something like a nylon bushing falling off the shifting linkage????

as your drivin down the road you would hear the sound of fluid splashing around in the transmission. would signal a clogged filter
