Default Code 27 and 5.0 Injectors

I've been running the Ford 5.0 4 pintle injectors for a few months now, no problems.

Yesterday, I noticed my check engine light came on. Check ed the codes and got 12, 27, 55

27 is injector circuit failure according to the FAQ.

Has anyone else run into this problem with these injectors?

Is this a problem with an injector or caused by the injector?

Thanks for the help!

Does it have a miss? Possibly a bad injector or a loose connection or even low fuel pressure or volume. Do you know which cylinder it is?

I peaked under the hood this morning and felt the connections. Looks like the middle cylinder on the driver side has a loose clip on the injector. All the others clip in, but that one seems to just "fit" on top of the injector.

My crankcase breather hose rotted off the other day and I replaced the hose. I must have bumped that injector clip loose. I never noticed a miss, but maybe it was enough for the computer to pick up on it.

I pressed it on as well as the other clips and took it for a spin. The Check Engine Light did not come on while I was driving at all, which is great. But, I checked the codes when I got home and it is still giving me 12, 27, 55.

Are there any tips for securing a loose or broken injector clip?

They are brand new injectors, so I'm guessing that's not likely the problem. It runs fine, so I don't think it's bad pressure. It must just be that clip.

If it isn't missing, there's nothing wrong and you're getting stored codes.

On a side note, I fail to understand what everyone thinks they're accomplishing by swapping in different injectors on a stock PCM.

You have to reset the computer to erase the code. Unplug the battery for a minute or so.

You should be able to buy a new connector for the injector and wire it in.
