Well, for me it worked. I had issues with heat soaking a starter in my cutlass. So header wrap, starter wrap, and a mini starter later and no more issues. Seems to have helped at least a little bit.

Yes it is worth it. It has been tested for 200 degree difference. The only bad thing is for headers you need it to be off the motor to fully wrap it all around and get it tight.

Header wrap voids most header company warranties, and will make headers rust faster and can potentially lead to cracking as well, just an FYI. But yes it will hold heat in and reduce under-hood temps.

Its when something literally is so over heated from an outside heat source it no longer functions.
My headers were over heating the starter while the car was running to the point that when I shut it off it wouldn't restart until it had time to cool down.

i do allot of idling with the air on and i was having to put new plug wires in every 10,000 miles or so. i ended up wrapping the stock manifolds with header wrap and i was able to tell a difference imediatly. my under hood temps dropped drastically. runs cooler when i have to idle for a while. air id colder. oh and there is less heat making it into the cab.
it does work and i do reccomend it if you are going to work it any. even on manifolds it helped immensely.

also last weekend i towed a 3,500 lb camper plus myself my wife my doughter and about 300 lbs in the bed of the truck (with 3.21 gears) ran 75 mph the whole way. most of it in overdrive. and we climbed almost 1,000ft in elevation. there was warning signs for truck for a 4% grade and one for a 7.5% grade.
a truck slowed to forty or climbing the 7.5% grade and i went around him with ease. then when we got to the park where we wanted to camp i idled around a good hour pulling steep hills at 10mph. the truck stayed nice and cool the entire time. the air was ice cold the entire time. and not once did it ping (something else the wrap seems to have helped)
so yes i would do it. you need the fancy silver stuff for header wrap. use the tan looking cheap stuff for the headers.
the other works best for keeping heat out. like wrap you plug wires in it or something.
