Default no spark when cold?

Problem started happening a while back, but it had gone away while it's been in the upper 90s the past couple weeks. Over the weekend it cooled back off to the upper 70s to mid 80s and it's come back.

I'll get in, turn the key and it just clicks. If I keep trying to over and over it eventually starts. Only happens if the truck has been sitting and it's under 90ish.

If it's been parked out in the sun it starts up no problem or if it's been running a while and I shut it off then go to start it a few minutes later it fires right up again. Let it sit for a few hours in the shade in the employee lot at work and the problem comes right back.

3.9 v6/auto
Changed the plugs, wires, distro cap and rotor, filters, ect about 4 months ago. Problem started happening maybe a month or so ago.

Ya it sure sounds like a bad starter. It could also be a bad battery or dirty/loose connections.

So if it just clicks, how is that lack of spark?

Sounds like a classic bad battery connection.

sounds like starter contacts to me. when it does it do the headlights go out? do they dim? do they stay lit brightly? if they go out then you may have a bad connection at the bat. if they get dimmer but not almost out then the starter is likely the cluprit. if they stay brightly lit and the starter clicks then the contacts in the starter are bad. if they go almost completly out then the battery is probly weak.

Changed the battery, wasn't it. Got it towed up to work about 2 hours ago, waiting for it to get here to put a starter in it.

it might not be the starter. i was having a similar issue where it was just clicking but my dash lights and radio were all blacking out at the same time. Battery terminals don't like being covered in antifreeze, and it was causing poor contact on my truck.

I did have a radiator hose blow a couple weeks ago but I had the problem intermittently for quite a while before that happened. Either way I guess I make sure they're nice and clean on the bottom before I try the starter.
