Default 94 Dakota 3.9l big green wire driver side

I posted a week ago about my alternator not working. Didn't get much help so i tried inspecting myself and found this. A big green wire sitting on top of the tape wrapped wiring harness brunt in apart.

I can post pics if needed, but what does this go too? and it is the cause of my alternator not charging? and what do I need to fix it thanks

near the notorious splice? Big and green? Yeah that sounds like the main power wire for the alt.

Yes sir, that fits the description too a T. If you don't mind can I just splice the wire and add too it? Also what gauge is it and why would cause it to burn in 1/2 I wonder.
