Default axle questions???

So i was givin a dana 44 from a jeep j10 pickup. to my research this axle is approx 65" wide...

my first question is does anyone know off the top of their head approx how wide the stock dakota axles are?

My next question is do you think it would be a good axle for a SAS?

and my third question is due to being wider, is there a rear axle that will match the width? that wont have to be a complete custom fab install... like say out of a ram 1500?

As far as I know the J10 has the same Dana 44 the Jeep Grand Wagoneer had. Which is what I used. They are about 1in wider which makes it a perfect swap, the only thing is if your planning going taller wider is always better, that is my only regret is I didn't go wider when it ended up WAY taller then I wanted but no way around it. Offset wheels helps with what I wanted. See my SAS in my signature.

I do plan on going taller.... I'd love to clear 35x12.5's LOL. Ive looked over your SAS a few times now. btw i really like your dak!

well i guess my next step is find me some leafs and hangers and start piecing this together any tips? or anything extra advice while i piece together parts for my sas?

Thanks.

Well your next step is to plan out your build. Sounds like your going with leaf springs up front. What springs you going to use figure out your length to the leaf spring mounting brackets and hangers and what you plan to cut and rebuild like replacement crossmembers ect. Take lots of measurements before the swap and after to see where stock was in every direction and to see where you ended up.

And then the rear from how you going to match up the front lift to if your going to swap in a larger axle to brakes ect.
