i have a1994 dodge dakota that dies just like you have turned off the key and thencranks but doesnt fire for three orfour attempts and will startright up or have to wait 10-15 minutes. the fuel pump primes whenkeyed. please help. iwantto keep truck

 

Sounds like the notorious splice. Check the FAQ in this section just a few posts above this one.

 

Im having a similar problem. Truck runs and drive es fine in reverse but as soon as you put it in drive and start to roll it stalls. If you put it in drive and stand on the brake and give it gas it will not stall. Tranny was just rebuilt and has less than 100 miles on it. the torque converter was not replaced. I am at a total loss with this.

 

Sounds like a bad IAC Idle Air Control valve.

 

It could be a clogged fuel filter. When was the last time you changed it? Had this happen to my van a while ago would stall everytime you came to a stop or took your foot off the gas

 

Its odd though because i drive it in circles in reveres and as soon as i try to drive forward it rolls about one foot and stalls.

 

should have changed that torque converter... they are not that expesive for that trans, now you get to pull that tranny again...
