Default Weird Steering Issue

I had to replace my pitman arm in my 95 4x4 dakota due to wear in order to remove it i had to remove the steering box, after i got the old arm off and i was pressing the new one on the case slipped out of my press and hit the ground the broke.

So i picked up a replacement gear box today and it seems like the new box only has 2 1/2 turn as opposed to the 3 1/2 turns of my old one. after i got everything reinstalled, it seems like it is mostly dummy proof the steering linkage can only connect to the box one direction due to the flat spot however when i steer from center i can turn my wheels very far to the right however they barely steer to the left with the same amount of movement in the steering wheel. and in order to get the wheels strait the drive side set of tie rods is almost completely screwed together while the pass side is almost screwed completely apart.

The new pitman arm can only go on in one of four directions and i believe it is centred it went back on in the exact same position the old factory one came off

Any ideas or things to check? Do these cars naturally not steer as far left as right?

thanks
