Default crossfiring

have any of you dealt with this? its where the oil pump drive gear (not the gear on the distributor) wears prematurely, and allows enough play for it to act as if timing is slightly retarded and cause a crossfire condition. condition is a little worse when the engine is cold because of the thicker, cold oil. there is a tsb on it. as far as i know, its only 92-93 engines (ive heard tell of some real late 91's and real early 94's with this condition). if so, id love to hear how yours acted. im going to get a cap, rotor, wires, and plugs monday. while im there im gonna pull the distributor to see if i can visually see the gear worn down. what mine is doing(always has done): there is a certain spot in the throttle where it will act like its missing very slightly. any throttle position under or over this peticular spot and it acts fine. i have switched map sensor, iac, and tps. so im thinking its almost got to be ignition related. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It is possible your distributor is incorrectly adjusted or your cam and crankshaft timing chain is stretched.

well if i remember right, the pcm controls ign advance, so the distributor just has to be within a certain area to be correct... right?
