Default Mopar PCM?

Yesterday we were up at the junkyard and got the wiring harness for the V8 swap and to convert it to MPI. There is a truck with the manual transmission that I want and we will be going back up to pull it on Monday.

So we are getting parts together and I wanted to start looking for a Mopar PCM. What one will work for me? The truck is a manual transmission and the Mopar Performance catalog only have ones for the Automatic trucks listed.

What year truck? What year engine? What size engine? You're pretty vague.

1989 Dakota. Converting it to MPI. 5.2 is out of my 1995 ZJ.

Your best bet is

1 P5249545 Engine Controller, 1994–95 5.2L Ram/Dakota,
Automatic Transmission

OR

1 P5249546 Engine Controller, 1994–95 5.9L Ram, Automatic
Transmission

Yes it is for an automatic transmission. You will just get a few check engine light codes, but with these years that is okay, there is no limp mode and the engine will run perfect. Several others have done it. As well as using the 5.9 PCM to run the 5.2.

The only thing I'm not sure if the PCM has the same plug and pinout as the Jeeps harness. Jeep has been known to do things a little different with there Magnum motors then Dodge. I would double check all pins are the same.

OK that is what I was mostly wondering about was the transmission. If it would run OK using a PCM for an automatic truck.

Wiring harness is from a Dakota.

You should be good on using a harness/PCM out of that Jeep in a Dakota, I salvaged a PCM from a 1994 Grand Cherokee 5.2 for my green Dakota and it plugged right in/worked fine.

The 60 pin connector on the PCM is the same, but the routing and the bulk head connector may be different. To save a head ache, it'd be better to use the Dakota harness if possible.
