I decided to use four wheel drive for the first time in the years i've had truck. V8 Motor went through a complete rebuild. The 4wd light is on in 2wd after having a shop look at it... i know about the vacuum lines and the switches... but what stumps me when i shift into 4wd i lose all mobility no 2wd or 4wd... no grinding no clicking or jerking. But when i shift back to 2wd i get a lil grind? Ideas?

It sounds like your shifter may be misadjusted and your in 4wd when 2wd is selected and in neutral when you select 4wd. Check the FAQ for a write up on adjusting it, which is just a few posts above this one in the stickies section.
