Default 1988 2WD Load Sensing Brake Pressure Valve

Hey guys-

I've got an '88 Dakota 2wd, with only 71k on the clock that I got from an old farmer. It's been sitting for quite awhile, and I had to replace the majority of brake lines, and now I'm not getting much pedal pressure. I haven't had anyone around to help try to recenter the proportioning valve yet, so it's possible that it's just not centered, and when it finally does everything will be fine. BUT, I'm thinking that the load sensing pressure valve, hooked to the front of the drivers side rear leafspring, has air in it, since it's much higher than the wheel cylinders. Anyway, the bleeders on top of it look more like rotten toothpics than bleeders, so I'm guessing they won't come out. A replacement valve runs about $130, and I'm not excited about springing for it at that price. Does anyone either have one they'd like to sell that's not from Minnesota, or at least doesn't look like it's from Minnesota? Or does anyone know if just replacing it with a two into one connector would be fine? I'm selling it to a friend's 16 year old kid, so I want to make sure it's safe.

Well, I ended up replacing both rear wheel cylinders, and the master, and re-bled, the brakes seem to work very well, actually locks up rears first on a panic stop, and it'll throw you through the windshield, but the pedal still has more play than I'd like. If anyone comes across one of these valves in useable condition, let me know, as I'd still like to replace it if I can find one.

I'm glad you got it going.
