Default Ignition problem, 92 Dakota

Need some help with this problem guys. It was my dads truck and after he died my mom keeped it as her DD and now it wont start.

When you turn the key you get nothing, wont crank, wont click or anything. With no clicking I think its safe to say the starter and batt are not the prob? Also when you trun the key you can wiggle the tumbler (that doesnt seem right to me, but I havent drove it in years) so that tells me it needs to be replaced? Is the tumbler supposed to move like that, and is there anything else it could be? Also, can you tell me what I need to take the cover off, Im guessing its not a screwdriver since I couldnt get one to work. I really dont know anything about this truck since my dad was always the one working on it.

thank you for your help.

My guess is it sounds like your ignition switch is bad. Most autoparts stores carry them for a low price. To remove the plastic cover you will need a set of security torx bits.

Thats what I was thinking, but I dont know much about the truck. Thanks for the security torx bit info, will make sure I add them in my tool box when I head over tomorrow.
