Default Gauge needles. How to replace them?

Well as you guys saw from my junkyard run I picked up a set of 95' Gauges specifically just for the needles on them, they are still DARK red and practically new. How do I go about pulling the needles off the new ones and putting them on my old gauges? I think the needles have a bulb attached to them to light them up, but not entirely sure. Anyone done anything like this?

From my experience rolling back the odometer on a set of junkyard gauges, the only way i could get the needle off without breaking something is to cut the needle off and use a tiny screw to hold it back on. the little black cover goes right back over the needle and it looks like it was never apart.

If you don't want to cut off the needles, you could just put red lights in the back of the gauge cluster, but then the whole gauge would be red.

I am going to assume you have your gauge cluster apart, or at least the plastic lens off of it. I have pulled mine a number of times, I slide some cardboard under the needle to protect the gauge face then gently slide a fork under the needle work the fork up and down and pry the needle off, it should pop right off.

Ahh ok I thought they would be slide on/off but wasn't sure. And yes they have no plastic over them, they are just the loose gauges themselves nothing else.

Bit of an update, never got the needles off. They are not simply slide off's like I thought they might be, but rather the needle is attached to what I'm thinking is the bulb itself..might try to toy around with the tach or speedo today since I'm iced in today.
