Default 1991 V8 Auto Radiator

So looks like my rad might have a leak in it. Looking around, it looks like the 1991 V8 rad is pretty unique to itself, and is different from other engine sizes that year, as well as being different than the V8 rad in 92+.

I can't see them being that different though that it won't work, has anyone fitted a different year rad into a 1991 V8? Makes my life alot easier if I have a few years to choose from, instead of having to have a 1991 V8 rad.

Looking at the radiators from '91 and '92 on the autozone website, the mounting looks to be the same (or at least close, hard to tell with internet pictures). The hoses are in different locations though... but there is a difference of about $100 so I would buy an upper hose for the '92 and that should solve the problem. The lower hose should still be the same.

Thanks, looking online it seems that they are a slightly different size, and yes the hose diameter is different, but its the mounting points I'm concerned about, if they are the same, should be easy to drop in. The fan shroud is different between the two years, but that should hopefully be an easy find at the wrecker.

EDIT: This post:

Sums up the sizes nicely, but doesn't say anything about the mounting points. Slightly different sizes, but close enough the mounting locations could be the same (parts catalog says they use the same mounting hardware, just different fan shrouds, the existing fan shroud could probably be made to work pretty easily as well.

check and see if any of your local parts stores have both in stock (maybe a long shot) and compare them to one another for the mounting. Otherwise get measurements from your truck and then measure the one for a '92.

Also, look where the leak is coming from, if it's just a crack in the tank or something like that just JB weld that SOB. More than likely I would say it is probably one of the pinch points where the core and the tanks meet. But it is worth looking into to save money.
