Default Question...

I have an 87 dakota 4x4 auto w/200,000+ ... just dropped an 83 318 in 3 weeks ago.. the old 3.9 was sooo tired.. when we got it out it had little to no compression.. im surprised it made the trip to my buddies place 300 miles away in no. IL.. we had alot of issues with the swap but got thru eventually.. had to make an oil pan by welding the 3.9 and 318 pans together to make one that would clear the front axle and we had to fabricate some beefy motor mounts.. thank goodness my buddy is a union welding instructor! oh! and after all that we had to swap a 92 core support and front end for radiator clearance.. it was REALLY close to the water pump bolts! no fan anymore.. had to use 2 pushers on the front of the radiator.. she's a good running 318.. it has a mild cam, aftermarket intake and carb.. pulls ALOT harder than that old 3.9 haha.. my hood code for the trans is a998/a999.. is this going to hold up over the long run? or should i look for another trans from the yard to rebuild? if so what are some good choices for compatability? gotta be able to fit the 83 318 bell and the 87 transfer case.. thanks for your time.. any input is always appreciated
