I believe that 91 will have a 42RH, while your 94, would have a 46RH (may be 46RE, but don't think that was until a couple years later). You'd want to confirm, but I think your transmission will be built a bit more stout than a 91 V6 tranny.

Your 94 should have the 46RH, and the 91 should have the 42RH... To answer your question, yes they will interchange and everything should be the same (not sure about the length) and the bellhousing will have the same bolt pattern. The only thing you really need to worry about is how long the 42RH will last behind the 318, and I'm sure you don't want to be taking out the 42RH and putting yet another trans in your truck any time soon. Now if you take it really easy on the truck and maybe put in the TransGo TFOD JR kit and an auxilary trans cooler it might last for a while but who knows.

A 42rh will not last long behind a 318. the 46rh doesn't even last too long if you beat on it at all. unless you get a rebuilt 42rh, you will lose a gear or 2 after a couple full throttle gear changes.

With the amount of work required to swap transmissions in these trucks, do it right the first time. You will not be happy doing it again 3 months down the road.

On the other hand, if you plan to do a full trans rebuild including beefing up all the parts, get a 42rh. The gearing is slightly better, especially with taller tires. A built 42rh still won't be much stronger than a 46rh though.
