Hi, I am new to the forum, I just bought an 89 dodge dakota sport 4x4, and after working on her for several days in a row to get her up to par, a few buddies and I went to a local ORV park, where my little dakota showed up both of my buddies lifted trucks. Unfortunately, while I was still learning about the methods of rock climbing, I snapped my front anti-sway bar.

The junk yard down the street has an 89 dakota, but I was wondering in case its a 2wd, would the anti-sway bar be the same or different? I did some searching but couldnt find anything online.

or, are they interchangeable from the later 1st gens as well? like would a 93 sway bar work on my 89?

 

I do not believe the 4wd and 2wd sway bars are interchangeable. The front suspension systems are completely different. As far as finding a newer year, I don't know.

 

I didnt think they would be, from 4x4 to 4x2, but I figured I would ask. And I ended up getting one off my exact truck down to the paint job at a wrecking yard.
