Helping Grandma with truck - Not starting
My grandmas truck was having issues charging the battery and she was stranded a couple times so I borrowed the truck as I do not own one. I did a good amount of research for the problems and such. I had the alternator checked(passed both tests) and it's a new battery. I ran codes(Via keyswitch method on/off 3x) and code 41 which is a charging system code came up. I did the test by grounding the green wire( J20 ) and the truck started charging which was confirmed via a voltage regulator therefore confirming it was the ECM/PCM. I followed all procedure and had Orielly's auto parts order a manufactured unit which I just replaced. Ran codes again and charging system code is gone. Only got codes 12 which s battery disconnect, 33 which is an A/C relay and 55 end of list. The truck will not start now. I called Dodge dealership and inquired as to if the unit needs to be programmed. They advised me that they can program the VIN in but it wasn't required for the truck to run.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. A frustrated family member >_<

I checked the under dash fuses if that's what you are referring to? None were labeled IGN or anything similar. Is there an under hood fuse I should look for? I suppose I need to start tracing power from the battery. Is there a pin on that 60 pin connector or whatever that should have voltage with ignition?
Does the engine turn over, but not start? Is the battery fully charged (12.6V)? I would make sure the PCM you installed is the right one. I personally don't trust getting PCM's from anyone but the dealer, as they match the VIN to it to make sure it's the right part.

Yeah it turns over normally. It started and moved imediatelly prior to pulling the ECM and after replacing it no such luck. It had a full battery charge upon initial attempt to start but not anymore. I will try to confirm its the right ECM after I get off work. I am afraid if its not I know oriellys doesn't refund electrical parts that have been used. I assume there are numbers on the unit to verify correct part? If I can't get it going today gonna tow it to dealership. Thanks for the replies!
If they gave you the wrong part or it does not work properly, they will at least replace the item for you. I would try getting another ECM from them (return the one you bought and have them bring in another) and see if that solves it, nothing else changed, and sometimes you just get a bad part.
thats what I was thinking a sthe way I read it the truck ran with the old computer but not this one... what changed? The COMPUTER.
Id try a local junkyard for another computer even just as a spare; sometimes you can get them for ~$25.... the older the vehicle, the cheaper they usually are; at least in the yard normally I go to.... U pulls dont care any computer any make model year same price. see if yours has a "1/2 price day"
