Default 1994 dakota Elec. problem

1994 Dodge Dakota 3.9 v6 must have a short somewhere. When driving the headlights will flash on and off and lose all power. Any ideas where to start to try to find it??

at least that's where I'd start.

the headlights are either losing ground or power. a short would cause a c/b or fuse to pop. that might help your troubleshooting.

The headlights don't work off a relay, they run full power through the headlight switch on the dash. There is an auto reset circuit breaker in there apparently, and with time that circuit breaker will weaken, causing the lights to flicker.

I had that problem, and replaced the switch with another one and it has worked fine so far, but not everyone has been that lucky. The most permanent and best fix is to wire in relays that will activate the lights, this way all power will run through the relays, and the switch is just used to activate the relays.
