My 95 4wd gear selector is not working properly. when in park the park pin works but the transmission is still in drive. when selector is in any other position the truck dives down the road just fine, it shifts through all forward gears, up shift and down and the passing gear works. When neutral or reverse are selected it stays in drive. Help. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

 

get someone to move the shift lever while you follow the linkage looking for something loose or broken. start under the hood on the drivers side firewall. there are nylon keepers that hold parts of the linkage assembly, one of those falls out or crumbles could cause your issue.
