Lesson learned: 95 dakota drive shaft
So, I drove 2 hrs, one way to pick up a drive shaft for my 1995 dakota club cab 4X4, with a 5.2.
DID YOU KNOW that the drive shaft for a 1996 dakota club cab 4x4 with a 5.2 is maybe 3 inches longer????!!!!
Im assuming that the 96 has a different transfer case, or tranny tailshaft than the 1995.
So, in a nut shell, sucks to be me, and im still without a rear shaft. SMH.
...and I had a mini meltdown, which claimed my nice aluminum impact as a casualty. Snapped the handle right off.
I think i may need therapy after this is over. And at least beer while its going on.
Serenity nowwwwwwww.

i feel your pain
i remember when i had driveshaft problems. it aint fun when you'r pulling 75-80mph on the highway and the u-joint lets loose. mine situation unfortunately claimed the life of one of my taps, a couple drill bits and my favorite drill.

Im getting my old one rebuilt, to sell. Theres so many gen1 guys that need these. I got a 96 shaft cut, rewelded and balanced for $125.00. The shaft cost me $140.00. So I put in $265.00 just to get a driveshaft going.Im sure, im not alone. im loading my garage attic with spare parts so that once these are all but gone from the earth, I still have a supply.
CONSIDERING buying up old ones to part out and hoard.
