If you ever felt your fan turn on and off then you know the feeling with-out an engine driven fan. Don't expect any noticeable HP or MPG increase vs a fully functioning fan clutch. Although you wont feel much it is worth it if done properly, and with the V6 you will have a TON of room to fit it vs the V8's.

Yeah I expected as much but I have a suspicion that my clutch has been out for a while but I didn't notice it

For the "how to's" I'd suggest you run a search.

I live in a very hot climate (101 F today!) and my electric fan set up keeps up with the heat very well. (2000 Contour dual fans & Flex a Lite controller.)

No appreciable increase in mpg or power, tho. My truck (V8) has the 3.55 gearing, so acceleration is still pretty leisurely. Fans are on when the engine temp hits 195 (running a 60% speed) and hit full speed at 205 F. Or whenever (which is most of the time here) the A/C is engaged.

They are very loud! When sitting anyhow, when the truck is moving you don't hear them much, tho.

Brian, that sounds like a good fan setup. What size fuse would it take to run that?

30 amp. It's on its own feed from the hot pole on the battery and is fed by 12 gauge wire. It's a big fuse, the holder, fuse, and all the wiring were part of the flex a lite kit. So far I am very happy with the flex a lite setup.
