Ditching the back seats for some bass.
So since I've had my truck I've been given a 8" kicker 2 12"power acoustics and about two weeks ago a 10" power bass. Got rid of the kicker and am kicking myself for it lol. Also got rid of the power acoustics because the reviews on them are horrible. Looked up the power bass online and they seem to be decent speakers and I can get another one for about 80 bucks.
So I didn't want to just make a box to throw in my back seat like everyone else so instead I bought a sheet of mdf some charcoal felt and m3 spray adhesive and am designing a custom box This will include using the plastic storage bins which I found out comes out in one piece. Going to build off of that and line the bottom on the cab and bottom of the bins with the insulation people use in their trunks when installing subs. I will no longer have use of a backseat which I've sat in once and have had a lot of friends sit in it. Now I can tell them to sit in the bed of have fun walking
. It will look like something people would build and stand up in a regular cab just laying down. Also If I have enough mdf left over going to take the hinges that the 60/40 bench seats are attached to and mounting them upside down by up near the bottom of the rear window. wrapping some mdf in black vinal after sewing in dodge in big red letters so when i'm not in the truck I can flip it up and no one can see my speakers and think of breaking into my truck. I do not live in the greatest of areas. Plus I think that would just look bad ***.
Will have some pics up later this week after the box is built although it probably won't be complete for about a month. Still need the second speaker and an amp and all the wires.
If I get enough work this month maybe I can upgrade the stock 5x7s in the back with 6x9s. At any rate one 10" could be plenty for a truck cab. But this is America go big or go home.
