Default 1993 dakota fuel issue, new pump

It sat for six months while i was gone for college and now it will not start. It turns over, even fires up with some starting fluid.

Easy way to tell if your fuel pump is working or not is have some one turn the key to the ON position while you stand by the gas cap, you will here the fuel pump turn on. if not then your pump is not turning on. Though in the defense of the fuel pump which I have already replaced mine once, the symptoms was: as you were driving over an extended time or duration it began to show signs of lack of power and starvation til it couldn't move. After a bit of time with the engine off. Any where from a 5 min wait to 1hr it would start back up agian like it was perfectly fine and the process would repeat itself. That was my problem and the reason why I had to replace mine. Though everyone has different problems. If I were you I would also check those bad splices that these trucks are notorious for.
