Default Which tranny line is which?

Hey guys, I took my mud truck swimming n got water in all my gear cases got everything out but trans.. I need to pretty much flush the fluid out.. Plan was filling fluid in filler tube while the return line to transmission is disconnected running into a big bucket till clean while truck is running shifting threw the gears... But I need to kno which line at the transmission is which so I don't make a mess all over my driveway.. Fitting closet to engine or fitting closest to Transfercase thanks guys

I don't really know. But if I were to hazard a guess, I'd say the one on the driver's side of the radiator.

Good luck with this, btw. I think I'd probably pull the trannie pan off and drain it that way. Replace the filter, too. And then fill it up and get it warm and maybe do it all again. Automatics are like elfen magic for me. Not to be messed with. I hope you aren't toasing your transmission. . .

Edit: When you do the work in your driveway, get a roll of thick visqueen (plastic sheet material) and spread it out flat. Then push the truck over the plastic. Keeps that pesky red stuff from getting all over your drive way. I'd have a bunch of old bath towels real handy, too. You'll want to wipe up the spills off the plastic and off your arms.

the return line is the one going in to the back on the left side. this line inside feeds the bearing lube. with it disconnected do NOT have the trany in gear and turning else you will not have lube to the bearings. that then drains to the pan. most people just drop the pan and internal filter. your car should have 3/8 dia STEEL cooler lines. if it was mine i would put an add on cooler, and disconnect the stock one. all so some of them have check valve in the coolant tubing, most people say to remove it. ONLY use high pressure hose and STEEL hard lines. DO NOT use copper tubing. here is a good external filter.

man o man i about forgot yes its a cut & past sorry. __________________
after you clean the trans. add this to your*chrysler*trans. an external fluid filter
1. go to auto-zone. get 2210, its called a power steering filter, but it is for transs to. it is for 3/8 tubing. by (magna-fine) be sure to use high pressure hose. Reff:http://www.magnafilter.com
2. for other sizes wix 58964 5/16 tube size

hay hay hay looks like a great job on the external trans cooler. ill give you a hint that has got me ton of flaming. i put rear end grease in the chrysler trans. sometimes as much as 3 QTs to much could cause trouble if to gets to thick, ie cold weather. a friend runs a glide at the drag strip with large tractor trans fulid 100%. with no trouble. gear grease would hold up better in the heat.
