Well ive been thinking of putting on of the swing out spare tire racks like off some blazers and broncos. I actually have one from a mid 90s (95/96 i believe)blazer currently. with some bracket modification it will fit snug on the corner of the box and all that.

What im curious on is how i should reinforce the bed to be able to handle the extra weight especially with a 31x10.5 mounted on it... would just a large backing plate be sufficient? (like 1/4" plate steel to bolt through the box and the plate on the back side)

Just looking for ideas as i dont wanna tear my box up too much, but carrying the tire in the bed i lose all my space (short bed plus tool box and such) and due to exhaust it wont fit underneath anymore.

Any insight/ideas are appreciated.
