lowering an 87
Hi all,
I have a 1987 Dakota that has been in my family since new. It was my great uncles truck and still runs like a champ. I am turning it into a rat rod style truck: lowered, rims, new motor (at some point) all while keeping it sorta how he left it. It will be a tribute to him. I am looking at a 2/4" drop. I already have 4" drop blocks for the rear. I am looking for 2" drop spindles for the front. Where is the best place to find a set that won't break the bank? Will this setup be pretty decent? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may have to wait a while for someone with that info.
Most of the dak gen 1 forum members here seem to use their trucks as trucks, and probably wouldn't even consider lowering the suspension.
That said, someone out there might have some info.

I was going to suggest v6 coil springs but you have a v6. If you swapped to a v8 the front would drop otherwise there was a site that had drop spindles for dakota but I'm not sure what it is. A Google search will bring up part numbers from other dodge forums.
RobertMc there are many people in the world who would like to lower their dakota. I am one of them, just because it is a truck doesn't mean you have to mimic everyone's idea of what a truck stands for. a good place to check for Dakota "hot-rodded" parts is andyautosport. They will have drop spindles and various Dakota parts. Here is a link:
