Default Just died on the highway when I was doing 65mph

Ok so I'm on the way to my VA appointment I'm doing around 65mph and I feel a surge and all of a sudden I see my oil pressure gauge drop and I immediately shut the truck off I think it died actually. By the way it's a 94 Dakota SLT 4x4 with the 5.2L. I thought my oil pump just went out but after messing around with it it'll turn over but won't start and it's always had great oil pressure, it's only got 108,000 miles. Then I thought maybe it's the fuel pump but when I pulled my line off by the fuel rail and turned it over it's getting plenty of fuel. Then I checked for spark and all that and it's getting spark, the guy at the auto parts store says there's a good chance it's my computer, but is there an actual way to check that before buying one for $220 with no chance of a return? Any help on this matter is appreciated greatly it's my only vehicle at the moment and I really need to get it back on the road again thanks.

I'd see if a junkyard has one. I had a friend with a similar issue on a 1989 Ram 250 (Also a 318). He pulled a used one from an old truck he had, and it worked fine. Most yards around here will let you return an item for store credit if need be. I'd start there first.

Yea that's what I was thinking, I've gotta find the one with the right numbers which so far has been one hell of a task. Hey but thanks for the help I just sold my durango last week because I like the first gen Dakotas I'm starting to regret that.

Well I found out after taking it to the dealer which by the way was my first and last dealer experience ever that it was my ignition coil of all things. It makes sense though after pulling a few plugs that would explain the erratic spark I had when I turned the motor over but for some reason it just never clicked that that could be the problem. $190.62 I finally get my truck back damn thanks for the help though guy.

I wish things cost that little here. Even when our dollar is on parity or higher this would have cost MINIMUM 500 bucks. 100 to look at it, 100 to remove it, 100 to put in a new one and at least 200 for the new one. Plus whatever the mec would damage while fixing your car, often changed out and charged without your permission.
