Default Code 21

I have a 93 Dakota 5.2 4x4 that I am getting 2 code 21's when I check the codes by key on off method. I have replaced the o2 sensor and still get 2 21 codes. I'm confused because there is only 1 o2 sensor. I also believe that the motor has been replaced with a newer model and wonder if that could have anything to do with the 2 21 codes. Could the pcm be looking for another o2 sensor that isn't there?

Nope I assumed once it was fixed it would clear itself... I unhooked the negative cable after reading your response and the code did clear itself but
now it runs pretty crappy, is this the pcm relearning after the reset?

yea its gotta relearn... or now that that sensor is fixed something else might be an issue..

assuming O2 was toast and not an issue with wiring..

anyway since computers for clearing these codes are few and far around, just like new vehicles either remove power(has to relearn everyhting after) or clear with a computer otherwise code will remain.

i think its like 20min of driving or so to rellearn.. or 50 k i cant remeber lol to much beer

I was under the impression that it was 100 miles to relearn. Until then keep your rpm under 2k. At least this is what I was told for the 96 and ups...

My info shows the following relearn procedure for Chrysler vehicles of that year with anything but a A604 transaxle.

-

Set parking brake, and start engine in "P" or "N" position. Warm-up vehicle to normal operating temperature or until cooling fan cycles.

Allow vehicle to idle for one minute in "N" position. Select "D" and allow engine to idle for one minute.

Accelerate at normal throttle position (20-50%) until vehicle shifts into top gear.

Cruise at light to medium throttle.

Decelerate to a stop, allowing vehicle to downshift, and use brakes normally.

Process may be repeated as necessary.

--

Note: Depending on the make/model, it can take 40 engine starts before a vehicle's system fully relearns
