Default Removing Torsion Bars from their sockets

Greetings all,
I removed the torsion bar keys hoping that I could simply pull the torsion bars out of their sockets, no such frigging luck, I have sprayed them with panther ****, I even put a bitch pipe on the front end of the torsion bar and tried to beat them back out of the sockets. I don't want to use heat since the lower control arms appear to be either forged or cast and taking the temper out of them would be a disaster.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

They can be extremely difficult to get out without removing the control arm and using a BIG hydraulic press. You can use moderate heat without doing any damage, but I don't think it will help much. If you're just changing bushings, your best bet is probably to take them out together and not try to separate them.
