1994 dodge dakota, doesnt turn over
Hello,
I am a owner of a 1994 dodge Dakota V6 sport 2W manual. I have been having problems starting it cold, for about a week but after a few minutes of trying it would always start. I tried to start it again the other day, and it was trying to turn over but it wasn't going. so I tried push starting it by rolling it down a hill, after that it wouldn't even try to turn over. when I turn the key to start nothing happens except for all the lights come on. I turned on my headlights to check if they dim, they don't. also I think I can hear the fuel pump start when I turn the key although I am not quite sure. I tried charging my battery, didn't help. I also tried bypassing the battery and jumping the starter. As soon as I put the jumper on the starter it tried to turn over but it didn't start the engine. I am assuming that there is a bad connection somewhere or a fuse blew out. is it possible it is a bad connection between the ignition and the starter? I don't know much about auto repair. Does anyone have any ideas?

Here's the FAQ on 1st gen

It may be the battery even though it seems ok. What changed between the last time it started and the first time it didn't?

sorry for taking so long,
yea tried all that, turned out to be a chip in the ignition system. so I had to replace the switch, it cranked and ran for a while. it still had the trouble starting cold, I don't live in any extreme cold weather. now it has stopped running altogether, it cranks but it doesn't turn. I have tried adding starting fuel to the carburetor to help it, it turns only for a few seconds till that fuel is gone. I am assuming it is the fuel pump. I tried replacing the spark plugs but not the spark plug wires, does it matter? it seems most likely that there is no fuel coming to the engine. also does anyone know how much it would cost roughly to get the fuel pump replaced at a shop?

The 94 Dakota is fuel injected.
The only bug I found researching this rig was the fuel pump sending unit wiring. If you can diagnose that problem acurately it will save a lot of money the pump is around $150 (the filter is part of the pump) and you have to drop the gas tank or remove the bed, Remove the bed is easier. There are several descriptions of this on this site and You Tube has a few vids of guys doing it.
