few ways.. the lever that the cable goes onto sometimes can loosen the bolt that clamps it down,
lazy way , bend the cable mounting bracket,

remake a mount at to move it away ... like i had till it snapped piece of flatbar, mig welder... and relocated the mounting to a lock nut and bolt , this way you woul have to back it right off up top on engine and see how much slack you got by unmounting the cable from holder and pull back till the lever moves
Another $130 bucks! I'll try the adjustment first. Thanks for the ideas though I'll let you know if I end up changing the cable or????

Problem closer to solution. I just found out I was misunderstanding how to adjust the TV cable.Turns out the aamco guy didn't adjust it after all!!!

http://www.bionicdodge.com/Download/...Adjustment.pdf shows it for the newer gens. The clip is different for Gen1 but the principle is the same. It worked!
Anyway when you push that button on the Gen one (I use a screw driver and brace it lightly against the Tranny fill tube.) the thing you move is the housing inside the clip that goes through the bracket. You will probably feel clicks when you move it. It is a pointy cone tight to the cable itself in front of the bracket and a much larger cylinder shape out the back side of the bracket/plastic clip. That cone will move forward a bit, freely. So it probably isn't actually a part of the adjustment mechanism but it is a good indicator for how far you have moved because it comes to a stop when pushed against the adjuster or end of the cable housing.

Setting it back to the firewall is longer shift times faster kick down on acceleration and the reverse does the opposite.I pushed it back and it does a lot better now. I figure I will have to go out on the road for a long trip and adjust it a few more times to get it perfect.
Also the linkage at the tranny is probably a problem with the return spring which I moved a bit to check after finding a post about it, and it was like limp wet paper. The guy who posted used a much stronger carb spring he had and was very happy with the results.

Oh yea I mentioned a cable I thought was too loose earlier and it turns out to be the accelerator cable and that slack doesn't seem to matter now that I have figured out how to make it respond better.

The point of my explaining the meaning of adjusting the TV cable and I'm not unashamed of the mistake as it seems so obvious now, is that the term "Adjust the TV cable" indicates you are adjusting the cable in the same sort of way you adjust the brake cable on a bicycle. The fact is you are adjusting the inner workings of that bracket attachment which seems to control the position of the end of the cable housing and apparently that controls the slack in the cable itself. That cable itself moves rather freely and can pull forward an inch or more once you unclip it from the button it attaches to which makes me wonder how exactly it is "adjusted".

In any case whatever the way it actually works, the adjustment is to the innards of that plastic clip that goes through the mounting bracket, not the cable itself.

New issue. I drove around a bit yesterday and I kept hearing something turn on and off under the hood. It sounded like a pump or actuator kicking on for a moment then stopping then coming on again in a few seconds. If the AC were working I would say that was it.
This started after the TV Cable adjustment. Any ideas ? It also seemed to be affected by how warm the motor is as it did not happen when I drove it a couple miles this morning.
Something else happened when I was out and stopping at a store after it was fully warm the idle started acting funny like it was too low and wanted to die.

I ordered the Throttle valve Return spring and it should be in this morning. $5.75 at the dealer $3.71 at factory Chrysler parts with a $10.71 delivery charge. Ha a case of the dealer actually being cheaper!

EDIT
Went in to pick up the spring and the dealers said it was my AC compressor making that noise. Pointed out I had defroster on and said that it uses the AC. The quick cycling of it means it is low on coolant. I suspect a new repair bill in my future. :\

If your A/C is R12 then don't wait until it stops working. Here (last I heard) the A/C was allowed to be topped up with R12 refrigerant but if the system was empty then it had to be retrofitted to the new R134 (new compressor, lines, and drier $$).

Thanks bctom, Mine has R134A refrigerant. I believe this was mandatory in 94 in Ca where it was originally purchased.

sounds like an old Weaver twin post lift that lifts from the axles instead of the frame... those lifts are still common in places like bus garages

I adjusted the TV cable again today and it got better still. I have moved it 3/4 to 1/2 inch since starting to adjust it and I think it will get better still if I do more.
The only negs now are a hard jump after a delay when starting incline up and the throttle occasionally gets mushy as I am going then it comes back.

The MPGs have improved by 3mpg in one tank of gas. Last fill after 230 miles was 19 gals this fill after 270 miles was 17 gals! That's a pretty amazing change just by adjusting the TV cable.
