Default 1995 Dakota won't turnover

Hi there. I purchased a 95 Dakota in used condition a year ago. It has a few problems but nothing that prevents it from running...until now. It won't turnover. Nothing. At first it could be jumped to the alternator, but now, even with a fresh battery, nothing. Makes no sound. None of the lights, initial electrical indicators, or anything. The key turns and that is all.
It could be a lot of things are wrong. Starter? Solenoid? Generator? All I am asking is for what it could be. I need to narrow it down.
I will find a diagnostic key and go with that but in the meantime, I know there's some gearheads out there just know what the problem is.
Thanks.

X2 on their wiring harness.
Does the check engine light come on when you turn the key to on? If not it could be the famous wiring issue on the fender near the battery...
Will it start in neutral?

The few times this happened to me on various vehicles it was 1. dead battery 2. burnt fusible link, 3. Ignition switch failure.

rule out battery... rule out ignition ... has to be wiring, either the harness or fusable...
