Default 1995 Bed Removal Help?

So my 1995 dodge dakota's rear frame where the bumper hooks on to is beat to ****, due to some uninsured *******, pics; http://imgur.com/a/g0NgG , and i need to take the bed off to beat it to **** w/ a hammer, might use a torch too, but i'm only 17 so i'd have to use the little pocket torches, so anyone have a good video or something that shows me how to take the bed off, do i have to drop the tank too? it's far enough away i'm not too worried about blowing it up, plus i never have but an ounce of fluid in there b/c i'm so damn poor :P lol.

its simple... remove tail lights, remove disconnect wiring unbolt fuel filler neck, 2 bolt up front 2 infront of wheel well 2 behind it 2 in rear , a case of coors and 4 guys makes it easier to lift off but 2 people can do it..

probably eiser to just get a big *** adjustable wrench and bend it back then beat it to hell

Ok, thanks! And trust me i've tried with a 40lb sledgehammer, it bent it a little, but as you can see in one of the pictures it is slightly bent up, which i can't fix w/o taking the box off.

You could try a n open end wrench or get a oxy/acetalene torch and a rosebud tip to heat up that beam to dull red before hitting it with that hammer.

Yeah if it weren't for that upper crossmember, and i'm sure the tire rack helped a bit, my frame would've been completely destroyed. You know what really pisses me off? The frame people quoted me $800, saying they charge $80/hr, there's no flipping way this is going to take 10 hours, especially w/ their machines! I am 17, so i'm sure they were trying to rip me off for a few bucks, thinking i wouldn't do it myself! HA! I was just curious :P

I'm pretty sure the price they quoted you included putting your truck on their machine and making sure the entire frame is straight. It's a pretty involved process and you might want to watch it done sometime before you go accusing them of trying to rip you off. Have you priced a frame machine? How do you think the shop pays for it?

There is one more bolt on the long bed '88 I own - it connects the two ground wires that interconnect the bed to the cab assembly. YMMV on your truck.

It was dead center of the bed, in front of the two side bolts at the front of the bed.

If you go the torch method do not get it too hot and use a 4-10lb hammer. If you make it too hot it will lose strength and be no use if you get hit again.

Nah, i told them i ONLY wanted the end of the frame straight, just to hang a bumper, and i don't plan on pulling anything with it, i don't think the transmission would hold up lol (joking...kind of)
