Default Dead oil pressure gauge on '95 Dakota 6L

I bought a 1995 Dakota and the oil pressure gauge doesn't work. I check the dipstick frequently and the oil level is good. The idiot light has never come on. I would like the pressure gauge to work again. Where do I start?

First off just because you have oil doesn't mean you have oil pressure. I would start with the oil pressure sending unit and check all the wiring involved with that.

Where is the unit on a 95 Dakota?

Should be on the back of the intake near the distributor.

The Oil sending unit is near the fire wall behind and below the EGR. It requires a special socket.
For diagnosis the FSM on the FAQ page chapter 8E page 6 deals with oil gauge diagnosis.
