I know the prices on those things vary quite a bit. I gained some experience with crank sensors earlier this year when I swapped a different motor and trans combo into my Dakota. I bought a couple of crank sensors because the first one I bought (a cheap one) had the wrong connector, or so I thought. The next one I bought cost over twice as much (about $70), but it had the same issue. I finally figured out the problem was with my new wire harness, which was set up for an automatic instead of the 5 speed I had installed. But, I also noticed that the two crank sensors were practically identical in appearance. One had a slightly different coating on the metal bracket, but the sensors themselves were identical. I was so sure they were manufactured by the same outfit that I returned the expensive one and installed the cheap one. For what it's worth, I've had no issues with it.

I'm pretty sure the '92 and '95 sensors aren't any different. I have a '92 motor, a '97 transmission, a '94 wiring harness, and a '94 sensor, all working happily together. To be sure though, you can check compatibility by going to the RockAuto website and looking up the part number for a '92 sensor and a '95 sensor to see if they're the same.

I've heard of that being done. Have you put a timing light on it to see how much it changed?
