the gear drives i have seen on race cars make a LOT of noise. for a street car / truck the chain drives are just fine. the ones from the factory are a little week. they are the silent type I.E. less noise. some times with a nylon top gear. then the true double roller type do hold up well.

kid: moe is right that gear drives are loud, i have them on my harley and you can tell they are there, but i kinda enjoy the noise, and like moe said for a street truck a good dbl roller chain setup will last a good long time and not stretch.

BUT if you find a gear drive setup let me know cause i havent found one for a 5.2 magnum.

here is list of gear sets all are very good. a real expert can fill you in on the best one. no 7. is a tension er to stabilize the chain. i have never had one but if did a chain i would use it.
Summit 1. COMP Cams 2103 - COMP Cams Magnum Double Roller Timing Sets
2. Summit Racing SUM-G6603 - Summit Racing® True Roller Timing Sets
3. Mopar Performance P5249267 - Mopar Performance Timing Chain and Gear Sets
4. Cloyes Gear 9-1103 - Cloyes Street True Roller Timing Sets
5. Summit Racing SUM-G6603-B - Summit Racing Street & Strip® Timing Sets
6. Cloyes Gear 9-1104 - Cloyes Street True Roller Timing Sets
7. Mopar Performance P5007709 - Mopar Performance Timing Chain Tensioners
AND dont for get when the gears are set right the dist rotor is NOT at no. 1 it will be at no. 6.
AND here is the hint my dad came up with for the plug wiring.
Mopar dist cap wiring
My dad made this saying about chrysler V8 small and big block dist cap wireing. To reduce wiring confuseion. “the small block has the dist in the wrong place, in the back of the engine. BUT the shaft rotates the right way clockwise. The big block has the dist in the right place, in the front of the engine BUT the shaft rotates the wrong direction counterclockwise. Both wire #5 and #7 on both ALL ways have #5 before #7 on the cap AND block. And most / some stock V8s have the fireing order cast in to the intake manifold.
