a few a500 trans questions...
So the transmission went out of my 91 4x4 sport dakota... Havent had time or funds to do anything.I recently acquired a good used 2wd a500 (42rh) I remember reading somewhere (i think as its been a while) That i can easily swap the rear extension housing from mine over to the 2wd to make a good usable trans for my truck. Is this true?
Is there anything else it involves like changing intermidiate shaft or a full tear down.
My other question is if this works and is possible, I have a basically new torque converter (has like 20 miles on it from when i attempted to rebuild the trans and something went wrong and fried all my 1st gear clutches) SHould i just flush some clean fluid through it and use that torque converter or call it a loss (since it will have particles from the clutches in there) and use the one thats currently in the 2wd trans.
any other ideas/tips/tricks would be appreciated. thanks in advance
