Default 91' Dakota 3.9: Serious issues, need help ASAP

Ok, so I purchased a 91' Dakota 3.9, auto, 2wd this Saturday, ran fine until today. I went to leave work and it would not start. It cranked over strong but nothing happened. Now, here's where it gets sketchy. From what I've read the '91 is supposed to have and updated TBI system, my truck however, is carburated. The guy I bought it from said it had an R-title and he didn't know why but it think I figured it out. So assuming that this truck had an older 3.9 put in it, I investigated. Upon further inspection I notice a mess of spliced and cut wires coming from the main harness going to the firewall, scary stuff. So knowing all this, I need some serious help as I cannot be without a vehicle. I checked for spark at the coil, none. I don't smell gas at the carb even after pumping it while trying to start it, nor do I hear the fuel pump when the key is on. I tried priming the carb as well with no results. One key thing to note is that my check engine light is not on while the key is on, I read that if this happens the ECM is not getting power. I can't check it any further until it gets towed home. Seriously, any help or advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

1991 would be throttle body - you sure it's carburated and not throttle bodied?

If you look down inside the body, do you see two big injectors?

My apologies, It is injected, it really looked like a carb until I looked again. Regardless, there is still a chop job on the wiring harness.

Hopefully there is some information helpful to you on this page. Wiring harness seems to be a common "thing" on dakotas so you should be able to get help maybe repost with "Wiring harness" in the title to attract the guys whom have taken them apart and reconnected shorts.
