I'm looking to swap out the transmission in my Dakota from an automatic, to a manual transmission. From what I've read I understand that the 2WD is much easier than the 4WD. My Dakota doesn't have a center console, and my tranny is going out anyway. Is this a reasonable thing to do? What tools would I need?

 

I asked about that in a few places and was uniformly told to sell the truck and buy one with a standard tranny instead.
