I'm looking at a potential good deal on a 93 dodge dakota, owner says the transmission is completely bad, body's straight and looks pretty good and the engine runs well. For $400 Im considering taking a gamble, my question is what transmission is in these trucks (42re?) and what other transmissions would be a direct swap in?

 

Depends on the motor, but it should be a 42rh or a 44rh, and the two should swap (so if you find a 44rh, use that).
