Default front driveline

I have a'94 4x4 Dakota with 272,000 miles. The front driveline needs to be replaced. Dealer says that the double CV joint is too worn to rebuild. I think $490.00 is a little steep. Any suggestions? What do I look for if I head to the junk yard? Thx. Ray

Axle shafts are about $140 each off rock auto, so that's @$300, then another $190 for labor, it's not that steep. You can try and find a place with cheaper labor rates. Going to a junk yard, you'll take a chance on getting junk that would need to be replaced again.

Default clear up misunderstanding

I am looking for the front driveline, not axle shafts. The driveline transmits power from the transfer case to the front differential. The dealer price is $490.00. It has 2 u-joints plus a double jointed CV joint. ("94 Dakota, 4x4, 318 c.i. auto tranny, ex cab) Ray

Default thx

I am going to check a local salvage yard first. Rock Auto has the best price I have seen so far. I have used them in the past. Ray
