Default 46RH behind a 3.9L

My 42rh just committed glorious seppuku. It doesn't matter because I wasn't going to need it anyhow, I'm doing the 5.9L swap soon. My question is, can I bolt up a 46rh in it's place till the new motor is ready? I haven't seen any reason why it wont. I'm curious what you guys have to say.

It'll bolt up but pretty sure it's a different length so you might have to modify drive shaft and tail support.

There is a transmission service manual for the 46 and 42 rh on the FAQ page. I know they changed the 42RH in 95 adding more ports and enlarging existing ones. There might be a similar change with the 46RH units.

Should I use my 3.9L torque converter? Or swap in the 5.2L one?

I believe this is only true for 4x4 Dakotas.

So I had to cut the old lines to get it down, and I was wondering, can I run a high pressure rubber hose instead of the metal pipe? I can get the brass fittings for a hose instead of a pipe, but will it hold?

Sure you can, just make sure it's rated for >300PSI....Something like this:
