Default 1991 Dakota v8 smog pump elimination

I've got a 1991 dodge dakota with the v8 , I want to remove my smog pump but I'm having trouble trying figure out how to reroute the serpentine belt. My truck has a single belt that runs all the accessories. Not worried about emissions. Anybody have any inpu . Thanks

Might be easier to find an idler to replace the smog pump.

I've been told that it ain't possible in another forum where I suggested that ... turns out that the belt, without going right about where the smog pump is, ends up going through the water pump, so ...

Thanks for your input. Its such a pain in the butt. I even removed the whole smog pump bracket assembly and purchased a magnum belt tensioner and bracket to put it place. Unfortunately, the bolt holes for the magnum assembly didn't line up with the 1991 v8 block.

Yah, you'd need ALL the front accessory drive (FAD) parts to make the Magnum design work.

Alas.

It is possible. I did it on my 91 LA 318. If i recall all i did was change the pulley on the tensioner to a ribbed pulley (if i recall it was an explorer or mustang pulley actually) and found a belt that fit. The belt was the toughest part of the job. i think i bought and returned like 8 belts until i found the one that would work (i also dont have ac)ill do some looking around and see if i can find the original thread somewhere that guided me and see if i can get some part numbers or lengths for the belt/pulley
