Default Any AX-15 trans changes from 92-95 ?

Hi Guys Ive got another line on an engine from a 94 Dakota . Doing some research on here and elsewhere had me thinking that the trans from those years were the same. Any engine from 92-95 would drop right in with no issues but now I'm not so sure. I read on allpar that in 93 they used a "quieter 5 speed manual behind the 4 cylinder" and I had never heard that before. On this site it just says the ax-15 was used 92 and on. Looking at clutch kits online I see for 92 2.5L they only offer a 19 tooth spline clutch kit versus the 94 2.5 only shows a 10 tooth spline clutch kit. So I'm questioning what trans was behind the 94, was it just an updated ax-15 with the same bellhousing pattern and lower spline count? If so does it still share the same pilot bushing/ crank journal depth and diameter ? The pilot bearings seem to be the same when buying online so I would imagine so but I've already made a 400 mistake once and don't want to do it again. Let me know what you all think. Thanks

The AX15 changed in 94 but not sure enough that you can't swap the engines. Here is some info on the ax15 changes http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/transmissions/manual/ax15

Thanks for the info, If the number of spines changed that's fine since I am going to use my clutch assembly. I need to know if the pilot bearing/crank journal for the bearing is the same. That's my issue, I'm sure the bellhousing is the same.
