I was under my truck
And your truck is what?

Really need a pic and truck info! It may be for an option that your truck don't have. If you have the factory service manual you can look up any plug on your truck and it will tell you what it is. I think when they made up the harnesses they are used for more than just one vehicle. I have almost every option and still see abandon plugs.

That's true, but if the switch went bad its possible someone by-passed it at some time, and left the connector hanging. Having seen some of the crazy "fixes" people have done to older vehicles, I try to look beyond the rational

The switch I had in mind though was the reverse light switch. He might not have noticed if his reverse lights aren't coming on. I just had to replace the reverse lamp switch in my trans.

ALL Lights are working on the truck, every single one in and out of the truck.

Why so unwilling to post a picture? Unless you are actually intending this to be a game, all you're doing is possibly delaying a solution to your issue. I don't mean to be a dick, but you should help us help you.
