Default 1993 dakota 5.2 not running right questions?

the pickup ran really good until i moved and it sat for maybe 4 or 5 months went to start it and drive it now it doesnt want to drop into first gear when i floor it. it will go into first gear manually and it all shifts pretty good. also it tends to die every once in awhile after i put it into gear and press the foot feed and let off but it only does it while its in gear. any advice? i have also dropped the pan on transmission and changed the filter and replaced the fluid to the correct level.

Seems to be a common thing on the forum with these trucks. Did it set in an environment where moisture may have corroded something?

This is a very confusing post. Letting it sit that long the gas may have gone stale, fill it up.
How do you know it is not "dropping into first gear"? Are you driving or starting from a stop?
If driving it would not drop to first gear it would drop to 3rd or maybe second if you were in 3rd and it needed to get more power. That is called the kickdown. There is an adjustment you can make at the throttle body. There should be plenty of threads on here describing how. Use the search function.
If you are starting from a stop please describe how that goes.

it has fresh gas in it of course and i know its not starting in first gear from the the start the only way it goes into first gear is if i do it manually and if course im starting from a stop :P also may have found problem with the stalling after i let off my pedal took the IAC off and really dirty and wont move so trying that tomorrow

EDIT: also i know how it kicks down into another gear when it needs more uummmmph its just that there is no 1st gear when i put it into Drive
